Project 10 TBR

As you know, one of my goals this year is to do Project 10. This is where you select 10 books and you have to read all of those books.  You can't buy any books until you complete the 10 selected books. I don't have to read them in the order that I listed them in, but I have to complete them all. I bought a lot of books this month and I need to go on a book buying ban. This book buying ban will exclude pre-orders and new releases.

Here is my list of 10 books:

1) The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

2) Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler

Why We Broke Up

3) The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson

The Rithmatist (Rithmatist, #1)

4) This Girl by Colleen Hoover

5) Wonder by R.J. Palacio

Wonder

6) The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #2)

7) The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness

The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2)

8) The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien

The Hobbit (Middle-Earth Universe)

9) The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab

10) Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Bookish and Booktube Goals - 2014

Hey! It's Kiara and I decided to make a blog post for my reading goals this year. I wanted to make a video for it, but I much rather write one in a blog post.

Now, for my reading goals.

1. I want to read 70 books this year.

As much as I would like to challenge myself to read 100 books, I know it will be extremely difficult. I still attend school, so I don't want to spread myself too thin. I finished 63 books in the year of 2013, so I'm sure I can read 70 books. To everyone who is doing the 100 book reading challenge, I wish you luck!

2. I want to finish the Harry Potter series.

Yes, I know. Someone should give me the cone of shame. I have read books 1-3 and 6-7. I have yet to complete the Goblet of Fire and the Order of the Phoenix. They are just so huge and threatening. But, I definitely want to complete them this year.

3. I want to complete 10 series.

I keep on starting new series and I feel like I haven't completed that many. This year, so many books are coming out that will conclude series, so I'm sure that I will be able to reach this goal. I will most likely make a blog post about the Top 10 Series I Need to Finish.

4. Keep book buying to a minimum.

I don't really have a book buying problem compared to some. I mean, this month I have already bought 10 books. But, I have every intention in reading these books in the next two months, so it's okay.

5. I want to do Project 10 sometime this year.

If you are unfamiliar with what this is, it is basically where you have to select 10 books you must read. You cannot buy any books until you have read all of those 10 books. I really just want to take some books off of my TBR and this is a great way to motivate myself to do it.

Booktube Goals

6. I want to make at least two videos every month.

Making videos on top of school is very difficult, but I really want to keep making more content for my subscribers. Especially because I am at a point where people will actually miss me if I am absent.

7. I want to do VEDA in either June or July.

I really want to make more videos in the summer and VEDA is probably the best motivation. This will be something for you all to look forward to!

8. I want to host my own 24-Hour Readathon.

I was able to do this readathon in December and it was really fun. So fun that I decided that it would be cool to host my own. I am thinking about doing it in June, so look forward to that!

I think these are all goals I can accomplish this year. I am looking forward to reading and interacting with all of you! I wish you all luck on completing your own goals. You can do it!

Angelfall by Susan Ee

Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1)

"I never thought about it before, but I'm proud to be human. We're ever so flawed. We're frail, confused, violent, and we struggle with so many issues. But all in all, I'm proud to be a daughter of man."

Summary: Angels have invaded Earth. Not the ones that do gods bidding, the ones that demolished our planet. Penryn's crippled little sister is taken away  by warrior angels. There is only one person that can help Penryn get her sister back, but he's an Angel.

Overall Review:

I gave Angelfall a 4.5/5 stars. I loved seeing a different side of angels from what we are used to. This book was a bit disturbing at times, especially towards the end. The characters were really entertaining. I wish there was more angel mythology explained. I also felt like the end scene of this book should have been explained a bit more. This was a fairly short book and really easy to get through.

Characters:

Penryn: She was a very strong female character and it was refreshing. She had a great humor. The trait I most admire most is her loyalty to her sister and Raffe.
Raffe: I really loved Raffe. He had a great sense of humor. This is my favorite line from him:
"'My friends call me Wrath,' says Raffe. 'My enemies call me Please Have Mercy.'"
Dee and Dum: These two were very entertaining and they played a major part in Angelfall. I liked their names the most.

Sorry this isn't a very long review, I just don't really have the enthusiasm to write it right now.

Go watch my latest YouTube video! It's my Top 13 Books of 2013.

Waiting on Wednesday: Jan 1, 2014

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme created by Breaking the Spine in which on Wednesdays you post a book you are waiting to be released.

This is my first Waiting on Wednesday that I am posting on January 1st, 2013! Happy New Years!

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

Publishing By: Atria Books by March 18th, 2014
Genre: Contemporary
Print Length: 384 pages

At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

I need this book. Well, I need all of her books, but that's besides the point. Last night I started Hopeless, which is one of Colleen's novels. Needless to say, I am utterly obsessed with her writing and her characters that I just need to read everything she has written.  What is really cool about this book is she has Griffin Peterson singing songs for the soundtrack. YES! A book that has it's own soundtrack! I think that is one of the coolest things ever! You can download them here.  I can't wait to read this book especially because the soundtracks are fabulous!
